SQUARE DANCING’S RIP VAN WINKLE

Mixer

On Monday I received a little mixer I had ordered almost a year ago.  Well, I didn’t really order it then.  Actually I put my name on a waiting list for it.  It was originally made by Mike Pogue for his own use and he made a few more because some people wanted one also.  He put the details out online as to how to build one and what parts you needed to build it.  He didn’t mind someone taking his design and building one or even improving on it.

The word about the Lady Bug mixer got out and people, like me, contacted him about wanting one if he built more.  I must have been one of the first requesting one.  A year later he has just finished building 25 mixers.  I was fortunate enoughto get one of those 25.  I tried it out tonight at the Laurelaires club dance.  It was exactly what I was hoping for.  Light weight, compact  no power cable, and controls that mimicked the controls of a Hilton.  The sound was good out of it.  Not to get too technical here, but the signal strength was excellent.  I was able to get the same volume and quality out of my pole system as I did with my Mackie mixer but at a lower volume setting.

I am really pleased with this little device.
