Wow! What a National Square Dance Convention! We had such a good time there it was a shame to see it end. It is good it ended though, I don’t think my body could hold up to much more of the excitement.
The dancers seemed to really get into my calling and I was loving them back. I met many of my FaceBook friends and made new friends. All the callers were very supportive of each other. In the 70s and 80s many of the callers seemed to be superficially friendly, but were really competitive with each other. At this National all the callers were cheering each other on. They were truly encouraging each other instead of feeling threatened by each other! I love all my new caller friends.
I got to meet one online friend, we shall call “Mr. Wong” who has been sending me encouraging messages. It was the highlight of my trip! One day I will reveal his name…when he says it’s okay to do so. I am not ashamed of him, I am just protecting his privacy until he tells me different. Thank you for the encouragement and the wisdom you have passed on to me Mr. Wong.
I have had to break the news to my lovely bride that there is a new Hilton on my radar. It means I have to save up for it, Hiltons aren’t cheap! So, I need more bookings. Maybe I need a sign that says “Will call for Hilton money”
