As of July 29th, 2026 I officially became a recording Artist for JoPat Music. My first release, Hey Good Lookin’ was released yesterday on their website. This is a classic Hank Williams song everybody remembers and loves. I am excited about my relationship with this label and the things to come. I am already working […]
National Square Dance Convention
Wow! What a National Square Dance Convention! We had such a good time there it was a shame to see it end. It is good it ended though, I don’t think my body could hold up to much more of the excitement. The dancers seemed to really get into my calling and I was loving […]
Amazed
I am constantly amazed by my return to Square Dance calling. In such a short period of time I have recieved so many opportunities I never imagined. I’m just a guy who wants to call Square Dancing after being away for 36 years. Today I recieved a booking for February 2027 to call in another […]
Mixer
On Monday I received a little mixer I had ordered almost a year ago. Well, I didn’t really order it then. Actually I put my name on a waiting list for it. It was originally made by Mike Pogue for his own use and he made a few more because some people wanted one also. […]
Country Squares
Last night I met some of the most wonderful people in the world. Up in the Smokey Mountains, in the town of Oak Ridge, I called for the Country Squares. Their caller was out on a cruise and they needed a replacement caller, so I guess they figured I would be better than not having […]
Birmingham Square Dance President’s Ball

Back in the 70s and 80s if an outside caller came into our area a lot of the local callers would not support the dance. I always felt […]

I hate keeping secrets! I had something happened today I can’t talk about yet. Expect a happy announcement in a month or two.
Jet Roberts / Laurelaires
Tonight Jet Roberts called for the Laurelaires. It was a fantastic dance. We had 4 squares dancing. The recent graduates did really good. I was very proud of them.
Graduation Night
Tuesday night we had a graduation dance for our new dancers. They did great, I was very proud of them. The club was dressing up for this event so I decided to wear my Western Tuxedo. I must say I looked rather sharp. So…the first tip my singing call was ZZ Top’s Sharp Dressed Man. […]
ESP Records
Today I had a very pleasant surprise. Darryl Lipscomb with ESP square dance labels contacted me. It seems I had a problem getting a track I had bought downloaded and wasn’t able to download it until the download time period had expired. Darryl contacted me and asked about it because he didn’t see where I […]
